Kiko Study Group

Kiko Study Group is a community for learning basic knowledge and the latest topics on climate change with Kiko Network staff, and for supporting climate action by participants in their own regions and communities.

Kiko Study Group provides opportunities for learning, consultation, and interaction among members to encourage action by participants who want to do something to stop climate change. Why don’t you join us to learn about climate issues and take action in your community and region?

Registered members of Kiko Study Group will also receive occasional volunteer opportunities to help with research activities conducted by the Kiko Network, preparation and operation of events, and work at the Kyoto office as needed. We hope you will join us to help stop climate change and build a sustainable society.

If you are interested in participating in these activities, please register to the Kiko Study Group/volunteer mailing list using the application form at the bottom of this page. Subscribers will be notified of upcoming study sessions, events, volunteer opportunities, and other information. It is open to everyone, not just Kiko Network members.

Overview

The Kiko Study Group meets online via Zoom about once a month. Each meeting covers a variety of topics, with presentations and discussions by those who wish to participate. We also welcome reports and consultations from participants on initiatives being implemented in their own regions and communities. In the past, we have held presentations and discussions on topics such as solar sharing; middle and high school student initiatives; biomass in Scandinavia; climate change and refugees; and fashion and sustainability. We also plan to hold basic climate change courses for beginners on a regular basis.

In the future, we would also like to work together with participants to plan events such as seminars and study tours, and to create booklets, etc., in consultation with their wishes.

As this is a participatory study group, we ask participants to turn on the camera, speak actively, and if it is difficult, communicate via chat.

Volunteering at Kiko Network

Once you have registered as a member of the Kiko Study Group, we will send you recruitment information when the needs for volunteers arise. In the past, we have received support from people from all walks of life, including university students, graduate students, working adults, and retired people. They participated in activities such as carrying out surveys on local global warming prevention measures and the spread of natural energy, planning and managing symposiums and seminars, checking and translating news reports, and assisting the operations of our Kyoto office.
