<2000>
We had an important year dealing significant domestic and international events such as "Earth Day 2000" and COP6. Internationally, we demanded early entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol during the Meeting of the G8 Environment Ministers and Subsidiary Bodies to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (SB). We participated COP6 with domestic and developing countries' NGO.
Domestically, we received tremendous help from professionals and scientists to realize 6 % reduction of greenhouse gases regulated in the Kyoto Protocol and released a citizens' proposal for 6 % reduction of greenhouse gases. We also endeavored to provide effective information by holding symposium, preparing brochures, fact sheets, and panels for display, and publishing books. We carried out public awareness and exchanging information through "Earth Day 2000 in Kyoto" and "Road to COP6." After came to collapse of COP6, we made a special leaflet on this, and started to research on indications of impact of climate change in Japan and appealed to public about needs for global action immediately.
